Benchmark Email can help you stay GDPR compliant and you can keep your peace of mind. We already allow you to remove anyone who may not want to be part of your list, by providing the Unsubscribe option. However, in this case, if someone reaches out to your company and asks to be removed “forgotten” entirely from your database, we can help with the email marketing aspect by deleting them from your Benchmark Email account.

When a client says, they would like to be “Forgotten” they are referring to the new GDPR rule, The Right to be Forgotten click here and go to Article 17 to learn more about it.

Unsubscribing them is just not enough. To ensure you remove a person’s data from your Benchmark Email account, please follow the instructions below.

  1. Log into your Benchmark Email account.
  2. Select Contacts from the menu option
  3. Then click on the 3 dots  next to Create a New List
  4. Select Search All lists for contacts

  5. Now, type in the person’s name or email address and click Search.
  6. Click on the 3 dots , and you will see the option to delete them. If the person is on multiple lists, you can use the Select All option to remove them from numerous lists at once.
  7. Once removed from your list(s,) you must contact our support team and ask they also remove this person from your account.

When contacting our support team inform them that you have a client who would like to be “FORGOTTEN” from your lists. This will mean the recipient will be removed from your Unsubscribed list, as well.

Support will then notify you by email once they have removed the email address in question.

Once you have been notified of the removal, you can confirm to your recipient they have been “Forgotten” from your email marketing.

Feel free to contact our support team with any questions you may have. If you would like to learn more about GDPR compliance, please read the articles provided below.
