What Is a Feedback Loop?

Delivery Updated on March 1, 2019

When ISPs (aol, hotmail, yahoo, etc.) provide email service providers (like Benchmark) tracking information regarding specific user spam complaints, this is known as a feedback loop. Since Benchmark is technically the sender, we receive the complaint and note it as such in your account. We automatically remove the complaining subscriber from your email list to avoid further complications.

Feedback loops are necessary communications between email senders and various ISPs. Feedback loops were developed as a way for email senders and ISPs to be able to stop spam while allowing good emails to be delivered.

Currently, we have feedback loops set up with the following ISPs:

  • aol.com
  • hotmail.com / msn.com
  • yahoo.com
  • comcast.net
  • Road Runner / rr.com
  • usa.net
  • excite.com
  • United Online / netzero.com / juno.com
