How to Upload Contacts

Contact Lists Importing / Exporting Segments Updated on April 10, 2019

 

Whether you need to upload a list of 10,000 contacts or you’d like to pull contacts from another service, there are multiple options available in your Benchmark account.

Please select an option that best fits your needs:

 

 

Import contacts from a file:
  1. Log into your Benchmark account.
  2. Click on Contacts from your Dashboard and select Contacts.
  3. On the Contact Lists page, click on the icon.
  4. Click Add Contacts to Lists.
  5. Select Import Contacts From a File then click Next.
  6. Now, select the lists where you would like to add your contacts to.
  7. Click Next.
  8. Click on Browse to select the file. Remember: Your Free Starter Plan 2,000 allows a maximum of 2,000 contacts in your account. If you need to add more emails, you can remove some contacts  from your list(s) or you can upgrade your account.
  9. Map your data fields with the Benchmark list fields. Note: The system will display the first 10 results from your data as a sample.
  10. Click Save & Finish.

Important: Benchmark  supports Excel (.XLS or .XLSX), Comma Separated Value (.CSV), or Text (.TXT) file. To import or upload a file of email addresses into Benchmark you will need to export your contacts (from your current application) and make sure that the file is saved as an .XLS, .XLSX, .CSV or .TXT file.

Note: It takes approximately 5 to 45 minutes for your lists to be uploaded in the system, depending on the number of contacts in the file.  You will then receive an email confirming that your list has been successfully uploaded into the system.

Copy and paste contacts:
  1. Log into your Benchmark account.
  2. Click on Contacts from your Dashboard and select Contacts.
  3. On the Contact Lists page, click on the More Options icon.
  4. Click Add Contacts to Lists.
  5. Select Copy & Paste Contacts and click Next.
  6. Select the list where you would like to add your contacts to and click next.
  7. In the box provided, start pasting the email addresses. Note: Add only one email per line. If you have a string or block of emails, please delete all commas and hit “ENTER” after each email address. You may copy & paste up to 50 email addresses here.
  8. Click the Add Contacts button when done.

Add individual contacts:
  1. Log into your Benchmark account.
  2. Click on Contacts from your Dashboard and select Contacts.
  3. On the Contact Lists page, click on the More Options icon.
  4. Click Add Contacts to Lists.
  5. Select Add individual contacts and click Next.
  6. Select the list where you would like to add your contacts to and click next.
  7. In the Contact Details page, fill out the data fields for your contact.
  8. When done, click the Add Contact button.

Import from a service:
  1. Log into your Benchmark account.
  2. Click on Contacts from your Dashboard and select Contacts.
  3. On the Contact Lists page, click on the More Options icon.
  4. Click Add Contacts to Lists.
  5. Select Import from a service and click Next.
  6. Select the integration you would like to import contacts from and continue the process.

 

Please note:

  • When you upload a list to our system, please keep in mind that your list is subject to sampling. Click Here to learn more about list sampling.

Email addresses that are role-based, duplicates, unsubscribes or blocked domains are automatically removed from your list.
