Smart Sending
The Smart Sending technology is a brand new AI tool built by our Benchmark team that will help increase engagement from your contacts and improve your overall deliverability.
Topics covered in this article:
When sending an email, Smart Sending will review the list of contacts you have chosen and intelligently predict which contacts are least likely to open your email based on their previous engagement. The contacts Smart Sending identifies will be skipped for that email send.
The skipped contacts are not removed from your list and you will be able to email them again in the future. Smart Sending evaluates your list before each send and will include the contacts it previously skipped if it is determined that the timing is right.
Smart Sending is automatically enabled for users who are sending to contacts who are not engaging. Smart Sending is a value add and over time will help you land more emails in the inbox.
The Smart Sending Badge will be visible throughout your account. The Smart Sending feature is account-specific. Therefore, if you have multiple accounts or subaccounts, the feature may not be enabled across all of your accounts.
Accounts that have Smart Sending enabled will see a Smart Sending badge in the areas below.
Dashboard
Upon signing in for the first time after Smart Sending has been enabled, a dismissible message on your account dashboard will appear.
Email Checklist
A message will display in the “Send To” section of the Email Checklist.
Account Name Dropdown
In your account dropdown, you will see the Smart Sending icon and a notification that Smart Sending is active for your account.
Smart Sending will continue to monitor your account indefinitely once it is active.
Your account’s email reports will reflect the results of Smart Sending. Comparing your previous reports to current and future reports will reflect this positive trend. Over time, you will begin to see an increase in clicks and opens. This higher engagement will result in better inbox placement and overall deliverability.
The size of your contact list is no longer a measure of success. Engagement from quality contacts is the best way to measure results. Having a quality list should include contacts who have subscribed to your emails and regularly engage with your emails
Email service providers such as Gmail, Yahoo, and AOL track your sending practices. When you are not sending to a quality list who is engaging, they notice. Continuing to do this will eventually result in them filtering your emails away from the inbox, even for contacts who were previously engaging. Proper list hygiene is the best way to keep your emails in the inbox.
