Why didn’t all of my email addresses upload?

Contact Lists Importing / Exporting Segments Updated on February 25, 2020

In order to prevent your account from sending emails to bad email addresses, each list you upload into your Benchmark account will pass through the following filters:

Syntax Errors – These can either be invalid, incorrectly formatted email address(es) or email addresses containing typos

Role Based Addresses – Role based email addresses are those who do not reach a specific individual but addresses a department instead, such as “sales@” or “admin@” (you may choose to add these manually later on if you wish)

Keywords/ Domains – These email addresses contain suspicious spam keywords in their domain such as “,” “” or “”

Unsubscribes – These email addresses currently exist in your Master Unsubscribe List

Duplicates – These email addresses already exist in the list you’re uploading to

You can easily view the contacts that were filtered from your uploaded list by following the instructions below:

  1. Log into your Benchmark account
  2. Hover your cursor over the Contacts button at the top right
  3. Select Lists from the drop-down menu
  4. Below the desired list name, click View Details
  5. Click on the different filter type(s) to view the list of filtered email addresses for that category
